Pac Man gets trumped

This game is addictive AND contemporary.

Headbutting Zidane is taking up valuable white collar working hours at offices around the world. Tell me I’m wrong.

Unflinching Triumph

The videos on You Tube just get better and better. Last week it was the homemade Cockney gangsta rap video, and this week you have to check out Unflinching Triumph. I kid you not, this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on You Tube, and I’m a regular.

Also, you HAVE to check out how Zidanesque therapy mania sweeps the continent in: ZIDANE a new way to solve problems.. make it like zidane … very funny.

Just two more reasons to love You Tube.

Painstakingly funny, and so on.

We’ve all seen terrible web pages. Some are even traumatic. This particular website is a hilarious and accurate anthology (ongoing) of what not to do with a web page. Painfully American humour, but extremely entertaining. In a slapstick sorta way.

I particularly enjoyed the “Biggest Web Design Mistakes of 2004″ section. You can check it out here, but I’d recommend getting a taste of the rest of the site before sitting down to read this bit.

Speaking of bad sites. I totally took off my portfolio link until it’s completely done, compliments of Badger, Nathan and the Bullet posse.

On a final note… this is beyond hilarious. Over the years I’ve heard of my name in many contexts and cultures, but I’ve never been regarded as a parrot. Until now.

R.I.P Windows 98

Yeah, I’m a Mac user. But this is a bit of computer geek history. Does anyone still use Windows 98 anyways? I liked the “Ctrl Alt Defeat”.

Oh Johnny…

I love Johnny Depp. Here’s a brilliant piece of writing… a recent interview he did for The Guardian with Chrissey Lley, a prominent entertainment journalist.

For the non-Brits reading this post, The Guardian is basically Britain’s best daily newspaper. London has 13 daily newspapers and I love The Guardian.

He deserved it.

The Italian. For saying what he said. As for the title, Italy didn’t deserve it. It was a cheap victory.

As for my match prediction, it’s a good thing I don’t place bets. I wanna know how the bookies did.

Speaking of bookies, here’s an interesting little story about bookies in Vietnam

I predict …

The countdown begins, and I predict a victory for France, 1-0 in extra time.

This prediction has been made despite the fact I’m first to admit the Italian team is much better looking. See, I’m not biased.

It’s strange for me, and I’m sure many others, that it has been a year since the 7/7 London bombings.

It’s strange on so many levels. I remember that morning. It seems like it was a lifetime ago. I was living in Manhattan at the time, with someone I once cared deeply for. I had just woken up, and as was the unsaid ritual with us, the first one up usually read the news on the BBC site and mumbled aloud if there was anything particularly noteworthy.

That morning (it was probably midday, considering our hedonist lifestyle at the time), I was up first. I couldn’t sleep all night as that person I once cared about was returning to England that afternoon. “Good riddance,” I kept saying to myself, but I didn’t mean it. We humans find funny ways to console ourselves in times of loss.

I sat down at my desk and logged onto the BBC site. “Oh My God,” I blurted. “There’s been a terrorist attack in London.”

I read through the story and the heat started to evaporate from my body. So close to home, it was. I had built a life in London. I had family there, I had friends there. We all took the tube every day. My brother, who is a banker at Canary Wharf in London, took the tube every day. Everyone I knew in London did. I called London, called my sister-in-law and everything was fine as far as our family was concerned, but the city was in panic.

I felt so relieved. I looked outside the window of our apartment in the Lower East Side. A sixth-floor walk up on Orchard Street; our fire escape facing Chinatown’s lively Allen Street. It was raining outside. It seemed like New York was crying.

I showered and got ready and walked through the rain, silently, arm in arm, with that person I once cared about. The rain was worsening, and he protected me with his umbrella.

We sat down and ordered coffee and breakfast. I cried. And cried, and cried. It was the last breakfast I would ever have with him.

On July 7th, 2005, I lost someone that I once cared about.

Peter Friedl at Macba

My holiday has ended. The reality is sinking in. I’m sorting through photos now and it’s all coming together…

That said, I went to a couple of great exhibits in my last couple of days in Barcelona. I checked out the Warhol exhibit at the Museu Diocesà. That was incredible. 110 original works on display. And can I just say how much I love the Liza Minelli pieces? And yes, the technicolour Marilyn’s were there. They look just like the posters at Target and Tesco, but better. The highlights were most definitely Liza Minelli and AND the original Campbells Soup dresses. So cool.

At Macba, there’s a particularly interesting retrospective Peter Friedl exhibit (1964-2006). I’m simply not a fan at all, but some of his stuff is fun.

I shot some pictures. I particularly like the neon-lit messages. The balloon is absolutely massive. If King-Kong chewed Hubba Bubba and blew a bubble, Friedl is bang on with how big it would have been…
